Warblog Central - times change quickly, many of the posts on the listed blogs have nothing to do with politics or war. Weblogs.com - "Welcome to the meeting place for blogging excellence on the Internet. Any weblog can participate." Setting the bar for excellence a bit low...mine gets listed. Popdex - see what bloggers are talking about. I can't help it, part of my search through their listings is to see how many of the citations they list are from my blog. (You can use the search box on the right side of this page to search Popdex for keywords.) blo.gs - lists recently updated blogs. You can also browse the alphabetical listings. Entries show the title and date/time of most recent update. An info link next to the entry gives basic info about the blog and lists the last 20 actions. Bloghop - lets visitors rate blogs. (See my rating link at the bottom of the column on the right.) Blogwise - find blogs by country or keyword. GeoURL - lists blogs and other Websites by their proximity to a given location. The site will need a geotag with its ICBM Address. See who is near me (within 500 miles). Globe of Blogs - lists Weblogs by location. See ones for Kentucky. If you like to participate in memes or just can't think of anything to write about, check out the list of weekly memes. Weblogs.nu - just submitted my site today. I had already added it to JoeAnt (but had to edit the URL today since it's changed from when I first added the listing. The change won't show until the database is updated.) JoeAnt Weblogs - listings for Weblogs, tools, software, publishers, and hosting. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa. Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking. 1. Hinduism (100%) 2. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (92%) 3. Neo-Pagan (90%) 4. Sikhism (87%) 5. Unitarian Universalism (86%) 6. Mahayana Buddhism (85%) 7. Liberal Quakers (80%) 8. New Thought (77%) 9. New Age (75%) 10. Theravada Buddhism (74%) 11. Reform Judaism (73%) 12. Taoism (41%) 24. Islam (40%) 25. Secular Humanism (39%) 26. Jehovah's Witness (31%) 27. Nontheist (25%) I think I would rather start my own religion. The rules would include: 1. You may keep your current religious beliefs, you just aren't allowed to tell me about them. 2. Try to be nice. Be polite when you don't feel like being nice. These are goals, not requirements. Seriously, you will meet people who need to be given a dose of reality and you can't always do it in a nice or polite way. 3. Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously. 4. Don't send spam email. In my 5. Pilgrimages should be made to resort hotels, preferably on a beach. 6. Ownership of rocks would be banned. 7. All members are required to link to trade links with my blog. Hmmm, I think this needs more work before I consider applying for tax-exempt status. Permalink ( 2:07 AM ) MB Men! Do you want to know the secret to having better behaved children? Permalink ( 1:48 AM ) MB I've found another site with ringers and wallpaper for 3G color phones. It's been awhile since I added any new ringers. Some I'm considering are themes from shows and movies: The Alfred Hitchcock Show. Jaws (only if I get a trip to a beach), and some voice files from The Matrix. A voice file of "mail time!" from Blues Clues would be good for text messages. "Good" being a relative term. It would be appropriate for text messages but would probably make me even crazier if I have to listen to it very often. I just signed up tonight but I'm not going to try it out until tomorrow. If it's easy to use and works like it's supposed to, I'l add it to the listings for ringers and other downloads in JoeAnt. Some people think I'm a good cook. My children will agree to that to a point. They like the breads, cookies and desserts I make but are seldom very thrilled with anything else. Given a choice, they would probably pick McDonald's over home cooking. Now there is a solution. Make McDonald's-like food at home. The link is to a site with a pdf file for "Recipes based on the old McDonald¹s production methods of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. These recipes are what made McDonald's famous!" If they take their time bringing it to the U.S., I may be ready for a new one by the time it gets here. It's not that I watch that much television, I just love new gadgets. My newest electronic gadget is a new Presario 2100 series notebook computer. Permalink ( 2:27 AM ) MB I fixed my archives (again). I just got moved to the new version of Blogger today. When I checked recent archives I got a page not found error. Only a couple weeks worth were missing. I just clicked on the edit links for the posts and republished them. All seems to be working now. Permalink ( 2:08 AM ) MB My bank got it right this time. I received the new checkcard today by FedEx. The spelling was correct. Third time's the charm. Permalink Tuesday, June 10, 2003 ( 11:47 PM ) MB The Real Reason Mobile Phones Have Camera I've been wondering what I should be doing with my camera. I don't think this is it. I've been tempted to take pictures of people who are acting like jerks so that I can post them here with appropriate comments. Or maybe I'll take pictures of people at the pool this summer. Ones who should rethink their bathing suit decisions. Yes, I know the human body is a beautiful thing. Yes, it is a gift from God, made in his image. Seriously though, some of us need to learn to take better care of our gifts. Permalink ( 11:24 PM ) MB How to get listed in Google in 30 days. Permalink ( 2:29 AM ) MB I have decided that my bank hates me. We've had a checking account with them for over a decade and all of our kids' savings accounts are there. We haven't had any problems with those. I can access them online to check balances or transfer funds, the debit card works anywhere I want to make a purchase. All very nice. A couple of months ago they were offering free checking for businesses. I opened a business account. First I had to have the checks redone, the business name was wrong. Then when I got my ATM/checkcard, the name was wrong on it too. I asked for them to send one with the correct name. I now have 3 cards, all with the wrong name. (Along with the first one, I have reordered them four times, one didn't come at all.) I have called them. I have visited the branch in person. They have reordered it by computer and fax. I have reordered it by phone through customer service. I really had hope this last time when they faxed the order in. I asked them to make it clear it was the business name and not my name that was misspelled. My new card came today, again with the same wrong spelling of my business. Even though the name is misspelled, the card does work for debit purchases and at the ATM. It gets declined if it is run as a credit card. I asked them to fix that last week and they assured me that it would now work. Most places that I shop allow me to run it as a debit card so it took until this past weekend for me to find that it still was being declined when it was run through as a credit card. This means no online purchases (probably a good thing, really) and some embarrassment to me when it gets declined. Is this a case of: 1. You get what you pay for. 2. They've read my blog and think I need something to write about. 3. While they like my family (the joint account and kids' accounts are fine), they have some unexplained grudge against me. 4. It's a sign I should be saving, not spending. 5. Someone needs a good whack with a clue bat. I've been nice so far. Mistakes happen. There are miscommunications. Once is understandable. Twice is amusing if a bit annoying. Three times is bordering on the ridiculous. I'm going back to see them tomorrow.
