Saturday, May 17, 2003 ( 7:58 PM ) MB I'm curious. The Texas House Democrats who skipped out to Oklahoma last week...who paid the bill at the Holiday Inn? Did each pay his/her own way? Or since it was done out of "duty" to constituents, did tax payers foot the bill? I haven't seen anything about that in any of the articles I've read. It's your complete resource for what to do, where to go and how to make things happen. I guess one year behind isn't that bad since our politics are decades out of date. At least we look good in comparison to Texas and Indiana. Sure, our governor had an affair, but after the support that Clinton got when he was accused of similar misconduct, Patton probably expected his approval rating to rise. Seems to be becoming a trend. Ohio seems to be a hot spot for misuse of rocks in Akron and in Cincinnati. More on that story. Stop the madness. Support BRA: Ban Rocks Always! Am I missing the logic here? Does this mean that in all of those roles where he plays a jerk, he's not acting? Permalink Friday, May 16, 2003 ( 4:00 PM ) MB Ok, I was good. I added some more sites to JoeAnt. Now it's nap time. Permalink ( 3:31 PM ) MB ![]() What Is Your Animal Personality? brought to you by Quizilla A bit on the cranky side? Me? Permalink ( 2:14 PM ) MB I added a couple of blog related sites to JoeAnt this morning. I had been looking through my logs and found a link from BlogMatcher which led me to Recommended Reading. Both got added. JoeAnt is having a contest for its editors. I can't participate so I could pretend that not wanting to add vast numbers of sites at this time is my reason for not going out and searching for sites. The real reason is that I've been feeling extra lazy lately and finding sites from my logs is easiest. I'm sure this is a hard blow to take, not being able to travel to get the child that they had already begun thinking of as theirs and worrying about the child's health while they are waiting for permission to finalize the adoption. Permalink ( 1:19 AM ) MB The Friday Five: 1. What drinking water do you prefer -- tap, bottle, purifier, etc.? My first choice is bottled because I have a cat who likes to knock over cups and so a bottle that I can recap is safest. If not for that reason, it would be a toss up between bottled and tap. Louisville has good tasting water. If I weren't so unorganized (see last week's Friday Five), I would bottle my own. Our local water company gives away free bottles for this purpose. 2. What are your favourite flavor of chips? Mike Sells Good n Hot Chips. Very addictive but occasionally hard to find at the grocery. 3. Of all the things you can cook, what dish do you like the most? Hot Chocolate Souffle. Second choice would be anything I fix where someone else cleans up afterwards. The truth is coming out, it's not so much that I'm unorganized, I'm just lazy. 4. How do you have your eggs? It depends on the time of day. On the rare occasions when I do eat breakfast I like poached eggs, with the yolks still runny. For dinner, I like an omelet. Any other time my choice would be Dove Truffle Eggs. 5. Who was the last person who cooked you a meal? How did it turn out? My husband. He fixed spaghetti and it turned out good as usual (although it has been a couple weeks or so since he last fixed dinner.) Not to obsess, but it would have been nice if he CLEANED UP AFTERWARDS! Protect yourself, protect your family. Demand that ownership of rocks be banned! Recent events show how dangerous rocks can be. Last weekend, a mother in Texas killed two of her children and injured a third by beating them with large rocks. There have been reports of drive by rockings in New Jersey. Some people will say that rocks don't kill people, people kill people. Or they will say they have a right to bear rocks. They are foolish and blind to the danger around them. Rocks are such sophisticated weapons that they don't need a human to propel them in order to cause damage. At the beginning of this month we heard the story of the hiker who was trapped by a boulder. The U.S. government is aware of the danger. They have a Geologic Hazards Team that investigates the dangers of rocks. No doubt their true function is to quietly handle any problems before they attract attention. Obviously a result of lobbying by the powerful stone industry. It will be difficult to end the ownership of rocks. People will say they need them for recreation, skipping stones across a lake or tossing a rock in hopscotch. Don't be fooled. All rocks are potentially lethal. They have been used as a weapon for ages (remember David and Goliath?). This is their tradition, death and destruction. BRA needs your support. Get the word out and Ban Rocks Always! Permalink Tuesday, May 13, 2003 ( 4:58 PM ) MB Little Green Footballs calls this the creepiest site on the web. Very accurate assessment. Permalink ( 4:03 PM ) MB Up until about a year ago I used to swap and download music files. Many of them were songs I already had on albums (yes the old vinyl ones) or on CDs but was too lazy to copy myself. I have a cute little MP3 player and I just wanted to put some music on it. I liked the MP3 player, easy to carry, no skipping when I walked or drove over a pot hole, and I could listen to just the songs that I wanted to hear. I can't even remember the last time a CD was released where I liked every song on it (or at least didn't dislike one or more of the songs.) I also found new songs that I liked this way. I was buying about one CD per week, sometimes more. In the past year I have bought, maybe, two CDs. This is a generous estimate...I can't really think of any that I have bought, but I'm guessing two just in case I've forgotten them. I don't listen to the radio at home. I do listen when I'm driving but my usual station is a public radio station that broadcasts news and other talk programming. I don't watch much television and none of the music stations. Sure, I could still search for artists' sites, listen to snippets of songs, but I like to live with the music for a few days and then decide if it's something I want to buy. I discovered country music this way. This from someone whose CD collection leaned more towards Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I liked the new country music because it reminded me of the pop/folk songs of the 60s. A year or so ago, I knew who the top artists in most genres were. Now I couldn't name more than a few combined. I spend so much time looking at blogs, I might as well feature some of the more interesting or unusual ones. That way I won't feel so guilty about reading blogs instead of adding sites. Permalink ( 11:22 PM ) MB I liked the look of the forum that I added to my recipe site so much that I changed the look of the rest of the site.
