New Periodic Table

A new periodic table could soon be gracing the walls of geology classrooms. The table shows how chemical elements are distributed in nature, by sorting them according to their electrical charge rather than their weight.

The Future of Slot Machines
This link probably belongs more on my husband's blog so I'll just post the link and leave the commenting for him to do.

...the gaming industry stands poised to transform casino floors into banks of thin clients -- dumb terminals that can download just about any kind of game a customer wants from a back-office server.

...The idea is simple. By putting gaming content -- including popular slot games such as Monopoly and Wheel of Fortune –- on networked servers and downloading them only on demand, casinos will be able to offer players a wide selection of games, and easily selected variations of games, on a single machine.

If you use a player card, the machine will begin with your favorite or recommend others that are similar.

Refreshing Power Milk

This is a carbonated milk drink that's being promoted as an alternative to sodas. The idea of fizzy milk doesn't appeal to me at all but my kids would probably like it...food choices are the REAL generation gap.

I hate this commercial. To be more precise, it's the song that makes me want to change the channel.

We went to Huber's today. We had lunch at the restaurant and visited the petting zoo where Conor and Emma made friends with a baby goat. Until they saw the goat, their favorite part of the trip was playing on the playground.

You can buy a small handful of food from dispensers for 25 cents. We fed the ducks behind the restaurant, we fed fish in the fish pond, and we fed a variety of animals in the petting zoo. There are some fallow deer there who were very eager to be fed since the buck was keeping all the others away from their feed.

One would think that we would bring home all sorts of fresh fruit and vegetables from our trip to the farm. Not our family. We bought candy. We did get some homemade fudge but the rest of the candy was stuff you could get almost anywhere. If you have kids, you'll understand.

Not that we ignored fresh produce completely, we did get a couple of peaches and some caramel apples. Ok, so maybe caramel apples belong in the candy group as much as they do fresh fruit. They are very good and worth the trip to the farm just to get them. It's even better later this month when more apples ripen. You can watch them dip the apples and get them while the caramel is still warm.
