I struck gold when I tried the Random Personal Picture Finder. You can see all the results for the same search here.

Who would post a picture like that on the Internet. Besides me, I mean.

A few comments about recent news items:

Regarding the Episcopal Church and the election of a gay bishop: I still think the worst decision the Church has made was in 1976 when they changed the Book of Common Prayer. I haven't made up my mind yet what I think about this election. Most of the articles that I've read mention his being a divorced father as the primary objection to his election. I would be curious to know how many, if any, other bishops are also divorced fathers.

Arnold Schwarzenegger announces he will run for governor of California: I've read comments where people say they think he is stupid. I disagree, I think he is intelligent or at least savvy about self-promotion, which in politics amounts to pretty much the same thing.

Kobe Bryant: I don't know, I wasn't there. If and when the case is brought to trial, tell me what the final verdict is. Until then, I don't want to hear about it. I'm not interested in speculation and opinions.

More on Kentucky's Transportation Cabinet computer use:

Transportation Computers Show Evidence That Child Porn Was Accessed

Child pornography was accessed from the Web on computers used by the Transportation Cabinet, according to the state auditor's review.

"We have found evidence that convinces us that Transportation computers are being used not only to access, but to view, child pornography sites on Transportation property," Harold McKinney, spokesman for state Auditor Ed Hatchett, said Wednesday.

Hatchett, stating the obvious, said, "This is our most recent finding, and we feel it is significant."

As a taxpayer, I didn't like the idea of computers I helped pay for being used on time that I also help pay for to access porn but I thought the lack of security was the worst part. I was irritated. Now, with this new announcement, I'm furious.

Yesterday I took Trevor to school for registration and freshman orientation. I was impressed with the registration process there, it took only about 15 minutes and that included getting his class list, locker assignment, taking his photo, and paying the class fees. We could have finished even sooner but we also stopped to buy a school t-shirt and pay for a yearbook.

I didn't stay for the freshman orientation but got a condensed version (hour and a half worth) tonight at the parent meeting. We were briefed on school rules and the rest was all rah-rah.

The winner of July's editor contest will be selecting the editor-owned SOTM next month.

Lexington did. Is Louisville next?

A month after Lexington became the first Kentucky city to ban smoking in restaurants, bars and most other public buildings, Louisville Metro government is considering a similar ordinance.

Proponents say a ban is the only proven way to protect hospitality industry workers from illnesses caused by exposure to second-hand smoke. They point to research in the United States and other countries showing that the health of employees and patrons has improved in smoke-free workplaces, and that bans help people quit smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke.

Don't stop with smoking. Ban anyone who is overweight from going to a restaurant with a buffet. It's obviously not in their best interest healthwise to be able to eat all they want. No more desserts for anyone, they're full of empty calories and promote tooth decay. No more fried foods, no more 16-ounce steaks, you know a serving of meat should only be 2 to 3 ounces.

Look, if you can't make better nutritional decisions, the government is just going to have to do it for you.

They should also ban people who wear too much perfume or cologne, crying babies, and anyone speaking loudly enough so that their voice can be heard several tables away. People who chew gum in public, especially if they pop or snap it should not be banned, they should be shot on sight.

I found Apologies to My Grandchildren via Ipse Dixit this morning. According to the article the proposed program that will pay for drugs for older people will cost $400 billion to set up and will cost $700 billion within ten years.

With an aging population meaning more costs for Social Security plus this, I can see only two outcomes for me personally. First, my kids will never be able to afford to move out and get their own homes or, second, they will kill me in my sleep. I love my kids, but given the possibility of them living with me forever, I just might prefer the second option.
