I didn't do much there until this week. I started playing enough that I upgraded my membership. When I went to sign up, I was a bit disappointed to read that it could take three days for the premium membership to go into effect. It took less than an hour. Permalink Monday, June 23, 2003 ( 11:49 PM ) MB How Fun! Boycott-Hollywood.net talks about George Clooney and the section of his site that asks that visitors boycott sites that criticize the political views and statements of celebrities. (I wonder why Rachel Lucas didn't make the list of sites.) It seems these sites are somehow trying to deny the right of free speech by these celebrities. Note to George: Someone else exercising their right to free speech does not stop you from doing so. Even when people base their buying decisions on whether they agree with what you say or not, they are not stopping you from saying what you believe. They are individuals, or groups of individuals, they are not Congress: Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Second suggestion, hire a Web designer. You need a complete redesign. Begin by getting rid of those little snowflake thingies on the index page. Ugh. Permalink ( 10:59 PM ) MB Spike Lee has filed a suit against Viacom to stop them from rebranding TNN as Spike TV. As for mental associations of the name "Spike" with Spike Lee, a Google search for "spike" didn't show any sites about Spike Lee until the bottom of the third set of listings. (There was a link to a subcategory of directory listings about Spike Lee at the top of the first search page.) A listing about Spike Jonze (whose estate has come out in support of Viacom) ranked higher than any site about Spike Lee. His real name is Shelton Lee, btw. Other stupid lawsuits over names.
