In another topic there, there is a thread about Bob Massa of SearchKing, Inc. filing a law suit against Google. From my point of view, it all seems to be an attempt to grab some publicity. I like Google. As an enduser, I like the results it gives me. It's not the only search I use, but it is usually the one I try first. I like it as a Webmaster, it sends visitors to my sites. But I'm not sure that all this fuss over PR (page rank) is worth it. My Mom's Kitchen site has had a PR of 5/10 since the page ranking has been available. It hasn't changed yet my traffic has increased by a few hundred every month. For this reason, I don't think PR is be all and end all of Google's usefulness. If the sole value of my site in Google's opinion was based only on the rank it gave it, then my traffic from them should have remained consistant. I can't believe some of the posts people have made in that thread. IMO, it says something about one's character when the only reason you feel this law suit is good is because Google "deserves" it for being successful. Also the ones who think Google is a monopoly...it is successful and it is an important tool for Internet users. If they started buying up other SEs and directories in order to eliminate competition, then I would agree that it is attempting to monopolize searches. All they have done is build a better mousetrap. I guess for some, it's easier to throw stones than to try and succeed themselves. Permalink ( 2:31 AM ) MB I found a blog that talks about Zipzaps. There is some interesting stuff there although I noticed under "Rumors" there is a bit saying the Volkswagon Bugs are coming soon. I tried sending an email through the site to let the Webmaster know that the VWs aren't coming, but I haven't gotten a reply and the message on the site hasn't changed. The VWs may be available sometime in the future but they won't be here anytime soon. The order for them was cancelled, I don't know the reason. In our store, we got a shipment of Zipzaps on Tuesday, by Wednesday afternoon all of them had been sold. This was the first time we had gotten the Honda Civics in. We also had the red Mustangs and a couple of Fast & Furious kits (also sold already.) Permalink |
