Thursday, July 25, 2002 ( 9:03 PM ) MB If you're looking for craft or sewing ideas, try Canadian Living. I was actually looking for recipes when I came across this magazine site. While the recipe section is nice, the craft section really caught my attention. There are crafts for kids, sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, garden crafts, home decor, and craft tips. The sewing section includes patterns you can print out (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.) While this isn't the most extensive collection of craft ideas I've seen, it is one of the better ones. Permalink ( 8:41 PM ) MB July isn't over yet, but still I feel as though summer is rushing to an end. The kids go back to school in less than a month...not that having the house to myself a few hours a day is a problem for me. I prefer summer weather to winter weather, but that's not the problem (yet) either. Some years we have warm weather up through December. I feel less like cooking in the summer even though it's certainly cool enough inside the house. Maybe it's that the days are getting shorter. I'm a night person (I really don't do mornings well at all), so you would think I would like longer nights and shorter days...except that if I get to sleep as late as I like, it doesn't leave much daylight left for me in winter. I think what I really need is more chocolate. Double Chocolate Tart: 25 chocolate wafer cookies 5 Tbl. unsalted butter, at room temperature 1.2 cup seedless raspberry jam 8 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped 1 cup heavy cream 2 cups fresh raspberries Process chocolate wafers in a food processor until finely ground or crush in a large plastic bag with a rolling pin. In a bowl, mix wafer crumbs and butter. Press over bottom and ip sides of a 9" tart pan with removable bottom. Heat jam in a small saucepan over low heat just until melted. Pour over bottom of tart shell. Place in freezer for 15 minutes. Heat semisweet chocolate and cream in a small saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Pour into tart shell. Refrigerate until chocolate sets, about 4 hours. Arrange berries on top and refrigerate until ready to serve. If you prefer, substitute strawberry jam and sliced strawberries for the raspberry jam and raspberries.
